AB0614 DENSITOMETRIC VERTEBRAL FRACTURE ASSESSMENT: FACTORS LIMITING GOOD VISIBILITY OF THE VERTEBRA

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: The radiograph of the spine is gold standard for identifying vertebral fractures (VF). Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA) a new feature available on modern densitometers that could assess VF. This technique offers advantage low irradiation over radiography but at cost lower image quality. Objectives: aim this study was to factors associated with good vertebra visibility when using VFA. Methods: cross-sectional including patients referred by their physicians bone mineral density (BMD) measurement. Anthropometric data were recorded. BMD measured methods lumbar L1-L4, total proximal femur. Results expressed as T-scores Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). screening VF performed A professional operator analyses VFA scans and assessed vertebra. Results: included 100 patients. mean age 61.7 ±12.6 years [18-83].The average body mass index (BMI) 28.9 ± 24.2 kg/m2 [14.2-45.3]. T-score site -1.5 DS [-4.9-1.5] 0.95g/cm 2 [0.58-1.371]. Osteoporosis found in 27.7 % fracture diagnosed 25% cases. visualization impaired upper thoracic region 60% Poor observed 19% cases mid-thoracic only 2% spine. No statistically significant correlation between (p=0.2), weight (p=0.5), or BMI (p=0.7). However, height (1.7 m vs 1.5 m, p=0.03). better vertebrae correlated neither right hip (0.84 0.87, p=0.4) nor left (0.85 0.89, p= 0.3). Similarly, absence osteoporosis not (p=0.6). Conclusion: Visibility does appear be altered osteoporosis, suggesting safe use elderly. precautions may taken interpreting high heights. Disclosure Interests: None declared.

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Vertebral fracture assessment using a semiquantitative technique.

The assessment of vertebral fracture by conventional radiography has been refined and improved using either semiquantitative or quantitative criteria. The inter- and intraobserver variability was determined for a semiquantitative visual approach that we routinely use in clinical studies for assessing prevalent and incident vertebral fractures. In addition, the semiquantitative approach was comp...

The prevalence of vertebral fracture on vertebral fracture assessment imaging in a large cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

OBJECTIVE RA accelerates bone loss, increasing the risk of osteoporosis (OP) and fracture. DXA imaging has been validated for identifying RA patients at risk of fracture. The objective of this study was to assess the presence of asymptomatic vertebral fractures (VFs) in a cohort of patients with established RA referred for DXA using VF assessment (VFA) technology. METHODS We determined the pr...

Vertebral Fracture Assessment: the 2007 ISCD Official Positions.

Vertebral fracture assessment (VFA) is an established, low radiation method for detection of prevalent vertebral fractures. Vertebral fractures are usually not recognized clinically at the time of their occurrence, but their presence indicates a substantial risk for subsequent fractures independent of bone mineral density. Significant evidence supporting VFA use for many post-menopausal women a...

Risk factors of adjacent vertebral collapse after percutaneous vertebroplasty for osteoporotic vertebral fracture in postmenopausal women

BACKGROUND Recently percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) was frequently performed for treatment of osteoporotic vertebral fractures (VFs). It is widely accepted that new compression fractures tend to occur adjacent to the vertebral bodies, typically within a month after PVP. To determine the risk factors among several potential predictors for de novo VFs following PVP in patients with osteoporosis...
